The thylacine, now sadly considered extinct, was one of the largest known carnivorous marsupial mammals, evolving about 4 million years ago.
The last captive thylacine died on 7 September 1936. in Hobart Zoo, Tasmania, where it lived for three years.
It is believed to have died as the result of neglect.
This extinct animal is commonly known as the Tasmanian tiger because of its striped lower back, or the Tasmanian wolf because of its canid-like characteristics.
It was native to continental Tasmania, New Guinea, and the Australian mainland.
I created this thylacine model with the help and advisory from Gondwana Studios and Queen Victoria Museum and Art Gallery.
This is one of in the series of illustrations created with the thylacine depicted in the natural environment.
Tools used, Zbrush, 3ds Max, Corona renderer, Hair Farm, Quixel Megascans assets and Photoshop.
